Half a century on the same corner.
In the fall of 1974, Marnie and Wendell Fox wedged a secondhand deck oven into the back of a narrow storefront at the corner of Main & Myrtle and started baking before dawn. The crust came out the color of a fox’s coat — deep, burnished amber — and the name wrote itself.
Five decades later, the same oven is still warm and the recipes haven’t wandered far. Marnie’s granddaughter June runs the place now, with a small crew that mostly grew up in this town and a sourdough starter named Mabel that’s been fed every single day since the week we opened.
We’re not trying to be the biggest bakery in Minnesota. Just the one your grandmother sent you to, and the one you’ll send your kids.
